About Me - KOLUMBÁN Szabolcs

Kolumbán Szabolcs, visual artist. I was born in 1998 in Miskolc, and even as a child, I gravitated towards art, taking my first steps in this direction early on.

My 2025 exhibition was the culmination of years of work, bringing together the most exciting themes of money, food, and environmental protection. From these three themes, 23 paintings were exhibited in Felsőzsolca. Later in July, I brought the exhibition to Emőd under the title 'Parasztvakítás' (Smoke and Mirrors), further exploring what new installations could be created. I incorporated a wooden trough, a copper crop sprayer, and buckets. There is no deception or beating around the bush regarding the message of the artworks.

Brands, logos, and ordinary everyday items that we use daily without paying attention to them — for me, this is pop art: popular, pop-culture art. A crushed beer can, a banana taped to a wall, or a white urinal can all be tools for conveying a message if we think deeply about it. Its goal is to break down or diminish the boundaries between the elite class and everyday workers.
